Dairanger Movie
By Gerald Conde
The Story
A man flips through playing cards and it becomes a huge card next
to the Dairangers. They thanks us for seeing the movie and to
sing-a-long with the theme song. A little boy looses in
Paper-Scissors-Rock and has to carry his classmate's pack backs.
A strange man asks them if they want to play poker. He put
playing card marks on the three boys. The Dairanger are aware of
the situation. The villain talks to three Dairanger through a
giant monitor and he turns the victim children into zombies to
reach a building. The principal boy's sister goes with Kazu,
Daigo and Shouji. Toranpu Koushaku turns the victim children into
living playing cards. He shuffles them by playing music. The
Dairanger and the girl sneak in and watch. He lays the cards
down, turns a couple up. He tortures the girl's brother.
The Dairanger confront him. Toranpu Koushaku takes his true form
and the men transform as well. They push him out a window. They
leap outside and the girl tries to have the victims escape.
Toranpu Koushaku is too much for the three. He surfs on a giant
card and have the card transport the three to a resort called
Shinjun Paradise, even though he is next to a sign that says
"Museum Garden." Toranpu Koushaku shoots attacks
toward the three and they fall. The Gorma Triumvirate arrive. The
Gorma sucks the three into a hat and tries blowing them away. He
successfully blows the hat away with a giant card. Lin and Ryou
slit up to find their friends. Toranpu Koushaku has brought his
card children back to the city and they are suffering living
normal lives. He blows them away. The normal kids tease the
victim brother and his sister is unsuccessfully in stopping them.
He starts to bleed, Lin and Ryou are able to stop the children.
The brother turns into a player card and flies away. All the
victim children turn into player cards. Meanwhile, the three
Dairanger are still in a hat and in the middle of traffic.
A train is about to hit them and the hat flies
away again and are in danger of a bird. They all fall out of the
hat and Ryuuseioh captures them. They are back to normal height.
Toranpu Koushaku collects the cards and plan to burn them. Ryou
and Lin are about to transform but he threatens to burn the
cards. The Korporto come in and fight the two. The little sister
tries to stop the villain but he threatens to turn her into a
card. Ryuuseioh arrives and blows the cards out of the foe's
hands. The Dairanger reunite and Toranpu Koushaku takes his
true form. They transform and do their roll call. Toranpu
Koushaku brings back four past Gorma: Himo Danshaku (Baron
String), Gamaguchi Houshi (Purse Priest), Kagidoukeshi (Key
Jester) and Kuchibeniuta Hime (Lipstick Songstress). Kuchibeniuta
Hime shows off a form she didn't have before. Shishiranger fights
the Key Jester and the Koroporto near the shore. Tenmaranger
fights the Purse Priest near the pool. Kirinranger fights Baron
String and Korporto in a train yard. Lin fights Lipstick
Songstress and Koroporto elsewhere. Ryuuranger of course
fights Toranpu Koushaku. The two teams gather. All five
gorma bring down their bombs and become big. The Dairanger call
their Chi Beasts. They climb on top of their beasts.
Ryuuranger forms Ryuuseioh and kicks down the foes. The four make
their temple and Ryuuseioh climbs on top, they avoid attacks from
the Gorma. They then form DairenOh. The five then merge and
become Ojaru Daio. They throw a fist at them and then slash at
them. DairenOh manages to bring them down, but they electrocute
them with their rope. DairenOh cuts off the rope. Lin makes a
tornado of rocks to attack them. They use their sword to perform
their finisher and destroy the monsters once and for all. The
cards become the normal children once again. The Dairanger gather
with the brother and sister and happily play leap frog.
My Opinion
For a wonderful Sentai series with a dense story and lots of
characterization, you would expect a better product. This movie
is just in bad taste. A bit of it is disturbing with the scenes
of the children beating on the poor boy dressed up like a reject
from Alice in Wonderland. I guess they wanted to take a break
from the dense storyline, but this movie doesn't really speak for
the series. If you see this and think the series is like this,
you will be gravely mistaken. If you seen the series and have not
seen the movie, do yourself a favor and don't watch this.
