By Gerald Conde

It is raining and MagiKing and is against a deadly villain.
MagiKing falls into a building and the villain approaches.
MagiKing stands up and slashes at the enemy but eh enemy takes
them down. They all fall into their human forms in the rain.
Yamazaki is in the clutches of King Glum and he plans to take her
as his bride. They all teleport away. Hours before, Kai was
playing soccer and his siblings were cheering him on. Tsubasa
mentions that Yamazaki, Kai's manager, is not in love with him
but with MagiRed, his alias. Urara says Magitopia law forbids
them to divulge their secret identity. Kai makes the winning goal
and wins the game. Aftewards, Kai asks Yamazaki how it is going
with her 'beloved magician,' she says nothing is going on. He
tells her if he wins the next match, then forget about the
magician, and make him her number one. She says the goal was dumb
luck, but she'll think about. King Glum and the Living sword
attack the city. Everyone runs out and King Glum pushes Kai aside
and kidnaps Yamazaki. It begins to rain and Glum leaves. Kai
transforms and tries fighting Glum but is swatted down. The five
form MagiKing and fight Sword. Hikaru is reviewing the battle and
Kai demands to know how to get into the Underworld.
Yamazaki awakes in the Infreshia's
headquarters. Memmy berates Glum for falling in love with a human
and getting married is unpleasant. Vankyuria says the Berserkers
are the Infershia's most violent warriors. When the king and a
pure hearted human female marry, an army will be released, souls
that were clinged to his armor. Smoky tells Kai they must go to
Magitopia. He heard of a horse that can go anywhere. Hikaru says
it is a one-horned holy horse by the name Unigolon. Kai wants to
use Magitopia but Hikaru is not for it, because humans must not
enter the forbidden holy land. Hikaru teleports away but leaves a
MagiTicket to the sky. It hits Mandora-Boy and he grows huge and
takes the five siblings up to Magitopia. Yamazaki is against
marrying a beast, Glum is upset. Memmy makes a pretty bride dress
for Yamazaki and hands Glum a ring. The siblings arrive to
Magitopia, The Sky Saints that are their elements great them. On
Earth, everyone is attacked and their life enrgy enter the ring
but Hikaru takes the ring. Hikaru becomes MagiShine and presents
himself. Mandora crashes into a palace and the siblings land in
front of it. Lunagel greats them. They enter and meet the giant
Magijel.
MagiShine fights Glum inside of a warehouse.
Glum dons spikes on his armor. He grabs a car and lifts it and
tosses it towards Shine. Shine destroys the car and Glum makes
him loose his Lamp Buster. Glum shoots at Shine and cracks his
armor. Shine becomes Sungel and defeats Glum. Magijel refuses to
give them Unigolon. She says that what occurs on their land has
to be resolved by those who reside there. Kai jumps up to her and
pleads to her. She bashes him off and tells him if he is
unsuccessfully and the Infreshia come to the surface, then what?
Back with Sunjel, Glum stabs him and takes the Puppet Ring back.
He then defeats Sungel. the siblings defend Kai, saying they will
risk their lives to protect the populace. They beg her to let Kai
go. Magijel says that fifteen years ago, their father Bragel
broke the law, and to protect his family, he plunged into the
Infreshia. Magijel remembers Miyuki, their mother having a
similar conversation, that she said if he didn't return, she
would fight. Magijel asked what a powerless human could do, she
said she had courage and strength. She says she is Brajel's wife
and won't give up. The siblings are touched. Kai says he won't
fail them. Unigolon arrives.
Unigolon was originally Brajel's partner.
Magijel disappears and the Maghiranger wish Kai the best. He
rides off to the Infreshia. Glum places the Puppet Ring on
Yamazaki and she obeys him. Kai arrives and faces Wolzard. Memmy
is the priest and Glum waits for his bride. The doors open and
the bride walks down the aisle with Nai and Mea behind her,
holding her veil. Memmy tells them to kiss. Wolzard takes out his
sword and Kai and Unigolon go forward, avoiding his blasts. Kai
glows red and goes past Wolzard. Glum is about to kiss the bride,
when Kai busts through the door. Unigolon makes a light ball and
Red kicks it towards the ring, breaking it. Yuka becomes a white
bride. She is happy to see MagiRed and hugs him. She says he is
late and he pinches her cheeks and she thinks of Kai. Glum looks
around and they are gone. He dons a new armor and enters the
surface world with soldiers. The five face him, transform, and do
their roll call. They fight the undead with their individual
attacks. Glum fights Red, who wants revenge. The five go after
him, amidst explosions and take him down. Glum gets up and calls
for Sword, who raises from the ground. Sword eats him and becomes
a new form: Sword of Glum. Travelion blasts at him and Unigolon
arrives. MagiDragon is formed as well. MagiPhoenix forms
SaintKaizer.
Sword of Glum is burn up by MagiDragon.
Travelion becomes its robo form and lets go its rails to
MagiDragon. SaintKaizer bounces off Travelion's fists and holds
onto the rails MagiDragon holds. SaintKaizer kicks the foe twice
and then performs its finisher from above. Magijel approves,
saying Bragel's children has grown well. She grants a special
spell for the entire Earth: the power of courage. Kai doesn't
make the winning goal at his next match. He is disappointed but
afterwards, Yamazaki tells him good work. She remembers MagiRed
making the goal and says she won't tell. They play as the others
watch. Kai falls on top of her and she pinches his cheeks. The
six perform the Ending theme dance.
My Opinion
Magiranger serves a sweet, colorful and enchanting movie. It
deeps into the lore a little bit, not only introducing the fabled
Magitopia, but also Magijel, and Unigolon. Magijel, unlike
anything else from Sentai movies, appears in more than one
episode in the regular series. Needless to say, the movie is
considered canon, even though Yamazaki's knowledge of his secret
identity was never mentioned in the series. The most notable
trivia is that Machiko Soga, who played villains in Denjiman,
Speilban, Sun Vulcan, and Zyuranger, is for the first time a good
guy. She passed away a year later. Little known fact is that she
voiced Rita Replusa in the Japanese dubbing of Mighty Morphin
Power Rangers. Even though the mecha visual effects are
astounding and the big robo battle is amazing, there are some
visual problems with the Magijel scene, the white is too
contrast-y and makes it look cheap.
Conclusion
For Magiranger fans, this fun and good, but I don't know if
non-Magiranger fans will like it.
